Relaxation and Deep Swedish Massage
Relaxation Massage is performed
using oil or lotion with light to moderate pressure. The fluid strokes and stretches release tension, promote relaxation, improve circulation, and increase range of motion. With Deep Swedish Massage, the muscles are first shortened for better access of the connective tissue, and then deeper strokes are applied.
Deep Tissue Massage
A deeper more specific type of massage,
slower strokes and more direct pressure or friction is applied across the grain of the muscle. This massage is performed using little or no lotion, deep tissue massage 'releases' underlying connective tissue (fascia) which realigns structural imbalances and reduces chronic muscle tension. Breathing and movement techniques aid in releasing this muscular congestion. The techniques I use are Myofascial Release, Cross-fiber friction, and Trigger Point.
A form of therapeutic foot massage where specific pressure techniques are performed on the foot--these reflex points on the foot correspond with body parts. Since reflexology is a 'holistic healing art,' the goal is to create a balance and harmony throughout the 'whole' body.
An ancient art using pure essential oils
(extracts or essences) from flowers,
herbs, and trees in a gentle effective massage. Essential oils are used for your body's individual needs such as reducing stress, inducing relaxation, and increasing energy.
An ancient healing art that uses the
fingers to press key points on the surface of the skin to stimulate the body's natural self-curative abilities. When these points are pressed, they release muscular tension and promote the circulation of blood and the body's life force to aid healing. Acupressure can be effective in helping relieving headaches, eyestrain, sinus problems, neck pain, backaches, arthritis, muscle aches, and tension due to stress.
A form of bodywork that involves the application of heated stones (Thermo Therapy) to the body within the context of a therapeutic massage. Heat Penetrates deeply, promoting profound relaxation, increased detoxification, and relief of long-standing muscular tension, stress, and fatigue.
WHAT CAN I EXPECT DURING MY HOT STONE MASSAGE?
The massage therapist often begins by applying oil to the body, which allows the hot stones to glide smoothly along the muscles. You are lying face down, and the massage therapist often then uses the hot stones to massage the back.
After the hot stones have relaxed the muscles, the massage therapist may put down the stones and use his or her hands to directly massage the skin. The hot stones may then be placed back on to the body and left for a short period of time.
You are then asked to turn over onto your back. The massage therapist may place small hot stones between your toes or in the palm of your hand and repeats the sequence
